The Coastal and Marine Resources Centre (CMRC) is a research centre within University College Cork’s Environmental Research Institute. The CMRC comprises a multi-disciplinary staff, and operates on a not for profit basis. The primary objective of the CMRC is to make a significant contribution to the scientific understanding of coastal and marine environments and their management. Basic and applied research in the CMRC is organised according to four specialist areas of interest: Coastal Governance Marine Geomatics Coastal Processes and Seabed Mapping Marine Ecology These thematic areas deal with technological, physical, biological and social aspects of the coastal and marine environment. The Council through its Planning Policy Unit provide expert knowledge of local spatial planning issues and also offer significant expertise in the development and review of forward planning policy.
