The Coastal and Marine Resources Centre (CMRC) is a research centre within University College Cork’s Environmental Research Institute. The CMRC comprises a multi-disciplinary staff, and operates on a not for profit basis. The primary objective of the CMRC is to make a significant contribution to the scientific understanding of coastal and marine environments and their management. Basic and applied research in the CMRC is organised according to four specialist areas of interest:

Cork County Council have extensive experience working in partnership projects relating to Integrated Coastal Zone Management, which currently includes the implementation of the Cork Harbour Integrated Management Strategy, finalised in May 2008.
